Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What is stump grinding?

Stump grinding is a service we provide with the use of a specifically designed machine to remove your stump. The machine grinds away the stump that is left after the tree had been removed to ground level.

2.  Do you use “spikes” to climb our tree?

We only use “spikes”, also known as spurs to remove your tree or to remove a specific limb.
When pruning we are spur free to prevent damage to the tree which can attract disease and insects.

3.  Do we need a permit?

Well, yes and no. It depends on the circumstances and the municipality you live in.  If you are unsure Rileys Tree Services can help you through the maze of requirements.

4.  Do you take care of the permit process?

Once we have your approval to proceed, we will walk you through the necessary steps for your application. Permit Links

5.  Our tree is getting too tall, can you cut off the top?

This is also known as “topping”, which should NOT be done. This outdated practice significantly injures the tree due to the extreme amount of canopy loss.
We can provide a crown reduction pruning of your tree which will properly reduce the overall size and weight.
